How long does vision stay blurred after cataract surgery?
Most patients can notice improvement a brightness and increase in vision in a few hours after cataract surgery but for somewhere the cataract is hard or advanced, it may take up to two weeks for the vision to fully recover. Most of the patients can perform their routine activities the next day.

Do you feel anything during cataract surgery?
Eye drops are used to numb the eyes during cataract surgery, so you will not feel anything. With the eye drops there is no pain. One may feel a bit of a touch sensation due to the pressure of fluids.
How long after cataract surgery can I sleep on my side?
One should not sleep on the same side as cataract surgery for 24 to 48 hours. After that, it will not affect the eyes. Most importantly one should not press or rub the eyes for the first few days.

One can watch TV and even read immediately after cataract surgery. But as the eyes are dilated the focusing needs some time and things may appear a bit blurred. Most patients can resume their routine work in 1 to 3 days. Some patients especially those given mono-focal lenses need glasses for reading.

Are multifocal cataract lenses useful?
Multifocal lenses give more spectacle independence and one can even read without glasses, but it is not good for night-time driving due to the halos and glare that can arise due to these lenses.

When can one start a strenuous activity after cataract surgery?
One should not perform jogging, running, weight-lifting, or other contact sports immediately after cataract surgery and of course no swimming for a period of at least two months.
