Fact: Eye removal surgery is not needed in a maximum number of cases and in fact, may not give any additional benefit.
2. Myth: VISION LOSS OCCURS DUE TO THE FUNGUS ENTERING THE EYEDIRECTLY
Fact: Most of the cases of vision loss happen because of blockage of the blood supply and not due to the entry of the fungus into the eyes. In fact, in most cases, the fungus does not enter into the eyes.
3. Myth: SURGERY IS THE ONLY CURE FOR ALL CASES OF EYE INVOLVEMENT
Fact: Apart from surgery, we have injections that can be given to eliminate the fungus from around the eyes which also gives a good response.
4. Myth: SWELLING AND PROTRUSION OF THE EYES INDICATES AN UNCONTROLLABLE DISEASE
Fact: Most of the time there is inflammation or swelling near the eyes and not the presence of fungus which can be controlled and reversed by minimal surgery and medications.
